A Requests Console used for RETA

What is RETA?

Request Emergency Temporary Access (RETA) is a system that automatically grants temporary access to emergency responders when someone calls for help using a Requests Console.

Allowing help to be mobilised without extra access required and without compromising station security.

Key Features

  • Automatic: No command intervention needed, responders get access instantly
  • Temporary: Access expires after 5 minutes
  • Targeted: Only responders in the called department get access
  • Limited: Only grants basic departmental access, not sensitive areas
  • Logged: All calls are recorded with caller information
  • Sillicons: Can use the RETA system as well via request consoles

Using Emergency Calls

Step 1: Find a Requests Console

Requests Consoles are found throughout the station, typically in:

  • Department lobbies and main areas
  • Hallway intersections
  • Important work areas
  • Most departments have at least one

Step 2: Call for Help

  • Click on the Requests Console to open its interface
  • Press the appropriate emergency button:
Call Medical - For injuries, illness, or medical emergencies
Call Security - For threats, violence, or security breaches
Call Engineering - For power, atmosphere, or structural problems
  • The system radios both your department and the responders department
  • Responders in that department get temporary access to your area
  • Your name and job title is included in the announcement

Anti-Abuse Features

Department Restrictions

  • You cannot call your own department
  • Engineers pressing "Call Engineering" won't grant engineers any access to that area
  • An Engineer can call Medical or Security to that area

Cooldowns

  • Department-wide cooldown prevents system overload
  • Calling medical will prevent medical being called again on all consoles in that department temporarily

Tips and Strategies

Building More Requests Consoles

  • Craft Requests Console frames from 7 metal sheets
  • Attach the frame to any wall
  • Useful for areas lacking emergency coverage
  • Consider placing them in isolated departments or important areas
  • Essential for triggering RETA in unmapped areas

Strategic Placement

  • Learn where consoles are located on your station
  • Some areas may lack console coverage, build one if needed
  • Emergency access is most useful when you can quickly reach a console
  • Remember: the console's location determines which temporary access is granted

Why Use Requests Consoles

Communication Hub

  • Send messages between departments
  • Request supplies and assistance
  • Coordinate multi-department responses
  • Get help when radio channels are compromised or jammed

Station Announcements

  • Department heads can make station-wide announcements
  • Requires proper ID card authentication
  • Useful for coordinating station-wide responses
  • Can alert crew to major threats or procedural changes

Administrators

Admin Verb

Use "RETA Door Access" verb under events to grant temporary access either for story purposes or gameplay adjustment.

  • You can pick one department, and choose multiple other departments to get extra access
  • Send Sec/Service/Med to Engineering all at once is one example
  • You can adjust how long the extra access is given

Logging

  • Admins can monitor for misuse
  • Separate RETA log file tracks all activity
